# Editorial Policy

> Canonical page: https://luxurybangladesh.com/editorial-policy/ (cite this URL) · Site guide: https://luxurybangladesh.com/llms.txt

Our hotel pages and travel guides exist to help you decide where to stay and what to see in Bangladesh, and that only works if you can trust them. This policy sets out how we research, write, check, correct and update everything we publish, and what we do when commercial interests could get in the way.

## Our standards in brief

- Facts come from sources we have read, and we list them.

- Facts that change are dated.

- AI helps us work; people check the facts and decide what is published.

- Commercial relationships never shape what we say about a hotel or a place.

- Mistakes are corrected openly.

## Where our facts come from

We use the most authoritative source available for each kind of fact, roughly in this order:

- **Official sources.** Government departments and agencies, such as Bangladesh's immigration and police portals for visa rules; embassies and foreign-ministry travel advice, such as the UK's FCDO and the US State Department; UNESCO for World Heritage sites; and airports and airlines for travel logistics.

- **The property or brand itself.** Official websites and fact sheets for facts such as room types, restaurants and check-in times. We do not repeat marketing claims such as "the best hotel in Dhaka".

- **Reputable press.** Established Bangladeshi and international news organisations for news, openings, closures and rule changes.

- **Booking platforms.** Listings on major booking sites for star class, listed facilities and indicative prices, cross-checked with other sources.

- **Reference works.** Encyclopaedias such as Wikipedia, which we use only as a starting point and check against primary sources.

Each guide and hotel record lists the sources we relied on. If we cannot verify a fact, we leave it out rather than guess. We never invent quotes, statistics, people, prices, opening dates or room counts.

## Dating what changes

Visa rules, travel advisories, permit requirements, entry fees, island and forest closures, airport terminals and prices all change, sometimes at short notice. For facts like these we write "as of" with the month and year, show when the page was last checked, and link to the official source so you can confirm the rule before you travel.

## Corrections

If you spot an error, [contact us](/contact/) and choose "Correction". Tell us which page, what is wrong and, if you can, a source that shows the correct information.

- We aim to reply within five working days.

- Errors that affect safety, legality or money, such as visa rules, permits or closures, are fixed as soon as we confirm them.

- Significant corrections are noted at the end of the page with the date, for example "Correction, 3 November 2026: we previously gave the wrong closing day."

- We fix factual errors, but we do not remove fair criticism because the subject of it asks us to.

## How we use AI

We use AI where it helps and keep people responsible for what is published.

- **Review analysis.** A large language model running on Cloudflare Workers AI reads public guest reviews and produces structured analysis: sentiment, comments on aspects such as rooms and service, pros and cons, summaries and possible fake-review signals. Our [review methodology](/review-methodology/) explains how this works and its limits.

- **Research and drafting.** AI tools help us organise research and write first drafts of some guides and hotel descriptions.

- **Human checks.** An editor checks every fact against its sources, edits for accuracy and tone, and decides what is published. AI output is not published unchecked.

- **No invented experiences.** AI is never used to fabricate experiences, quotes, reviews or ratings, or to suggest that someone visited a place when they did not.

- **Images.** The photos on our pages are real photographs of the place or property. We do not present AI-generated images as real photos; if we ever use an illustration, it will be labelled as one.

## Photos and credits

Most of our photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under free licences: public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA. We credit each photo with its author and licence and link to the original file, as those licences require. Photos supplied by a property are used with its permission and credited to it. If you are a photographer and see a mistake in a credit, please [let us know](/contact/).

## How often we update

| Content | When we review it |
| --- | --- |
| Time-sensitive guides: visas, safety, airport, permits, Saint Martin's Island | Every month, and straight away after relevant news |
| Other travel guides | At least every six months |
| Hotel facts | At least every six months, and when a change is reported |
| Google rating and review count | At least every 30 days |
| Indicative prices | Each price shows the date we checked it |

Our guides show when they were last updated. If a guide is more than six months old, treat its practical details with extra care and check the linked official sources.

## Independence

- **How we are paid.** The site earns affiliate commission from booking partners, as our [affiliate disclosure](/affiliate-disclosure/) explains.

- **What is not for sale.** Listings, scores, rankings, review flags and favourable coverage cannot be bought.

- **Gifts and hosted stays.** We do not accept free stays, meals or gifts in exchange for coverage. If we accept a hosted visit to check facts, we say so on the page, and it does not change the score.

- **Advertising.** We do not currently carry advertising. If we ever do, it will be labelled and kept separate from editorial content.

- **Conflicts of interest.** Anyone on our team with a personal or financial connection to a property does not score it or write about it, and any such connection would be disclosed on the page.

- **No previews.** Hotels and partners do not see or approve our content before publication.

## How we write

- **Plain language in British English.** We explain local terms the first time we use them, such as hartal (a general strike), CNG (the green auto-rickshaws) and haor (a seasonal wetland).

- **Written for international readers.** We give distances in kilometres, prices in US dollars with Bangladeshi taka where useful, and times in Bangladesh Standard Time (UTC+6).

- **Respectful and accurate.** We use official place names with the alternative spellings people search for, such as Chattogram (Chittagong) and Cumilla (Comilla), and we write about communities and cultures with care.

- **Descriptive, not promotional.** We describe what is there and who it suits, including the drawbacks.
